Life is meant to be enjoyed, and laughter is a way of acknowledging this simple truth. As a certified Laughter Yoga leader and coach, I teach people how to use laughter to improve their well being and inspire the greatness within them to emerge.
Laughter Yoga (LaughterYoga.org) is a system of inducing innocent and open child-like behaviour. Children laugh around 300 times a day; adults laugh on average 12 to 15 times a day. What happens to us as adults? Life happens. You know—bills, raising kids, climbing the corporate ladder, sitting in traffic, feeling aches and pains—it all adds up to one thing: STRESS. Laughter helps alleviate stress; it is powerful medicine.
Here are some of the benefits of laughing:
- decrease anxiety
- decrease blood pressure
- decrease acute physical pain
- decrease stress
- strengthen core muscles
- provide a cardiac workout
- release endorphins (your body's natural feel good hormones)
- increase immune function
